What are the Causes of Smoking
It a common misconception that the causes of smoking are the same for every smoker when in fact they can differ for everyone. Some may be addicted to the nicotine, while others are addicted to the habit of lighting up.
Some smokers are more addicted to the habit of smoking, and do it to relax, or to be social. It can be just as hard to stop for thes peopls as it is those who are addicted to the nictone in the cigarette.
You need to get an understanding of what made you start smoking if you want to stop the habit. As for me, i was a silly school kid you gave in to peer pressure. I thought it was cool to have a cigarette with my friend out back of my school.
We used to have a laugh behind the bikeshed, and I have some very fond memories. I guess I associated smoking with those positive times.
When I finally decided to quit the habit, I learned that the psychological addiction was one of the worst causes of smoking. Physically I was fine. I felt a little bit anxious, but I didn’t crave nicotine like some of the smokers I knew did. It was a habit, one I had trouble stopping.
I would smoke around 20 per day. I would have the packet ready by my bedside in the morning so it could have my first one of the day. Looking back, it was pretty bad.
The cause of smoking in my case was the habit, not the physical addiction. I found out that this was was on the most difficult causes to break through.
Now are are many tools available to smokers to help them stop the habit. For example niocotine gum is a great way to ween yourself of the nicotine addiction.
Quit smoking support groups are also a great idea, although they aren’t for everyone. As with all things, the more informed you are about your situation the better. If you want to quit smoking, there are many forms of help available.
