The Various Types of Acne

People call the different outbreaks on the skin with the same name “Acne”. The word acne sends shivers down the spine of many. Acne any form of it has undesirable effect on the person experiencing them, and there are many forms of acne. Each form of acne has a different reason of eruption and also a different treatment plan.

It is very important to understand and know about the different types of acne. The reason being, the moment we experience an acne outbreak, we run to the medical store to get the latest acne treatment available. As different types of acne respond to different treatment, knowing the type will help in reaching for the right treatment.

Acne vulgaris is the most common cause for acne outbreaks. It is also the universally known form of acne. Acne vulgaris is actually a group of pimples. This group has papules, nodules, cysts, blackheads, whiteheads and pustules; this is a comparatively nice group of acne. Whiteheads are caused due to blockage in the pores of skin. This blockage in caused by the oil secreted by the sebaceous glands mixed with the dead skin cells. While the blackheads are caused by part blockage of the skin pores.

Severe Acne.

Sufferers of severe acne or bad acne do not only have physical problems such as pain and tenderness, they also suffer psychological stress. Acne should not be taken lightly; it can cause long-term effects both physical and emotional. The most severe form of all kinds of acne is Acne conglobata. It is more common in males. This type of acne looks like large lesions.

Acne conglobata has typically numerous large lesions. They are found almost all over the body specially the chest, back, upper arm, thighs, buttocks and face. It occurs mostly in the age group of eighteen to thirty. It takes years to clear up too.

Females are affected by a different variety of acne. This form of acne is different from the one that affects the males. Pyoderma faciale affects females in the age group of twenty to forty. Pyoderma faciale affects even those women who did not experience acne during the teens. This type of acne has charceteristic large nodules, sores and pustules. Unlike acne conglobata, pyoderma faciale remains active for approximately a year. But like Acne conglobata, pyoderma faciale does long term damage to the skin.
