Imagine if you can lose pounds upon pounds of fat without stopping! If that’s what you want, avoid thinking about starving yourself everyday. Everybody is telling you to cut down on everything: fat, carb, whatever.

You’ve probably tried all the fad diets and realized that they just showed you to starve differently! And please remember this: starvation will not help you lose weight.

With virtually 1/3 of the United States kids happened to become obese, many wonder why folks put on pounds at such an early age. The answer is nearly always general - sugar candies, soft drinks, cookies, burgers, chips, and so on. are the actual culprits. Those are really easy targets, eh? Too often, it’s how we eat, and what we eat, that make us put on fat!

1. Breakfast is your ally. You know who’s the number 1 friend in your fitness journey? It’s breakfast! Breakfast insures that your metabolism is high all the time, which in turn leads to the burning of pounds and loss of fat. Skipping over breakfasts is among the fastest ways to put on lots of pounds really rapidly!

2. Eat small portions. Don’t be afraid of foods! In fact, you should eat more frequently. If you think I’m crazy, it’s because the idea of starvation is always on your mind. Just try 5 to 6 small meals daily and see what happens.

Look Good with Your New Abs

Wednesday, June 24th, 2009
by George Flex

It is no secret that all desire to display the six-pack abdomen. You will have the ability to display muscles all over your body when you’re a body builder. But you don’t have to train your whole body; rather you need to deal with a few facts and a few myths if you want maximum results for your abs.

You should always keep in mind that abdominal muscles are similar to any other group of muscles in the body, and you should be training for your whole body. Some things you need to know are, not only in your abs do you require muscles, but everywhere. Great intensity and much hard work will be required to define your abs by training. Adding crunches to your daily routine will work just fine for people who want to remain in good health and for the prevention of love handles. Nothing will be done for muscle definition, but they will assist you in keeping the pounds off. In order to achieve the look that you want, you should change to a workout that will increase the intensity.

Do more than crunches in your daily routine. Do your crunches on an incline, thereby incorporating some intensity into your workout. Perform as many as you are capable of and then add more as you go along. Even better, use an incline and add some weights when you perform your crunches. For example, weight training can help you define your abs; most find that it helps keep the fat away and your muscles will start to become more defined, to give you that six-pack you so desire. This will occur even while you are not flexing. You will note that the payoff of your hard work for you and your body is that you will feel fantastic.

You will not get a good workout with weights from the machines that are advertised on TV, as there is not enough resistance for intensification of your workout from one week to another. These machines are great for people just starting out or who have weight and health problems. This would be a waste of cash for body builders in general. As you perform your crunches, employ one of your pulley machines to lift you. Put sufficient weights on the stack, after you have made certain that you have elevated the stack one or two inches, for the ability to do about ten reps.

Increase the amount of weight every day, adding approximately 5% additional weight to the stack. If this is too much for you to handle, your body is telling you to take a longer break between your workouts. Your muscles need time to rest and rebuild from the previous session. You can get the body you want after working on this training and eating a healthy diet.

Fit Your Feet with Proper Shoes and Boots

by Amanda Bree

In the early days of man, you can imagine a caveman trudging along on the open ground, trampling on sticks, weeds, thorns and stones. It makes sense that he would have looked for ways to cover his feet from these elements. These days, humans do the same thing; we just have shoes for every occasion.

These days we have made other advancements that make the need for foot protection less important, but we still need a fair degree of it. Bare feet are still bothered by sun, rain and dirt. Shoes have become both functional and fashionable and for a variety of reasons.

You need to make sure you have a wide variety of footwear so that you are prepared for whatever life throws at you. If you’re going to the beach, you need a pair of flip-flops. If you’re going to a wedding, you need formal shoes to go with your suit. If you’re going out, you need casual shoes that you feel comfortable in. Shoes have become more like fashion accessories while still being functional.

So when you buy shoes always think about two things. The first is function. Make sure you shoes will hold up wherever you need to be. The second is style. Make sure the shoes you buy will be able to be worn with the majority of your outfits. If you consider these two things at all times, you are sure to get the best value out of your footwear.

As evolution developed, so did man’s desire to explore his world. Hiking is a way of getting back in touch with nature. But one thing’s for sure, nature sure doesn’t make it easy. If you’re serious about hiking you will need to get yourself a pair of good quality hiking boots.

Hiking boots will be your best friend on the mountainside for three reasons. Number one is that hiking boots protect your feet from sand, rocks and gravel trails. Number two is that they provide support for your ankles due to their thick soles and high cut. Number three is that they are waterproof, so you’ll be prepared if you run into streams or unexpected rain.

Don’t make the mistake of hiking in old worn out boots because you are putting your body at risk by not having the right equipment. Gore-Tex hiking boots are a good investment to make as they come with state of the art footwear technology. The membrane is both breathable and waterproof and will prepare you for any conditions while keeping your feet dry and healthy.

Remember, even you don’t go hiking all that often, there is still another use for your hiking shoes. If you’re going overseas to a new city and plan on doing lots of sightseeing, it would be wise to use your hiking boots, which are built for endurance. You’ll be grateful at the end of a long day of walking that you brought along a pair of shoes that are so capable of minimizing impact.

Shaolin Butterfly Combat Strategies!

Wednesday, June 24th, 2009
by Al Case

Here’s a big lie for you: Kung fu is a mythology with no modern combat applications. The idea here is that Kung Fu doesn’t have much to do with combat since it is based upon five ancient animals. That these animals don’t have much to do combat, is so funny it is…funny!

The classical five animals are not the five kung fu animals used in the Shaolin Butterfly. instead of the five classical animals, Butterfly Shaolin uses the butterfly, the crane, the monkey, the tiger, and the dragon. A study of these five animals will easily illuminate the unique battle strategies of Shaolin kung fu.

The first animal is the butterfly, and the stance utilized by this animal is the back stance. This stance is used because the butterfly must flit and flee to avoid damage, and the back stance is a step backward. Thus, the direction of the Butterfly is to the rear.

The Crane, which is the second animal, utilizes a one legged stance. To stance on one leg and use kicks is a great strategy that will teach great balance. Thus, by lifting a leg, and then by jumping, the crane chooses a direction that goes upward.

The monkey is the third animal, and the horse stance is the stance utilized by this animal. Driving the weight downward is the direction of this stance, and it enables a person to hold their ground. Thus, going straight down is the direction of the monkey.

The tiger is the fourth animal, and the tiger utilizes a forward stance. This stance is designed for charging, for attacking, and it is an aggressive stance. Thus, the tiger goes in a forward direction.

The fifth animal is the dragon, and the stance used by this animal is a twisted stance, the body turned over the feet. This stance is good for catching oneself in awkward positions, spinning to catch an opponent unawares, and so on. Thus, the direction of the Dragon is in a spin or a circle.

If you examine the five animals and the direction they take, you will find the points of the compass, and a strategy to match any any incoming force and direction. The Butterfly goes back and the tiger goes forward, the crane goes up and the Monkey goes down, and the dragon circles, which illuminates the potential for side to side, if you examine the potential to any degree. These five animals, and their directions, create a strategy with no weak points, and this is one of the secrets of the Shaolin Butterfly.

All You Ever Needed To Know About Treadmills

Wednesday, June 24th, 2009
by Paul Mancini

Treadmills have now come to replace jogging in a significant way. Each morning people would prefer to jump onto their treadmills in the privacy of their own home gyms rather than go out in public for an afternoon run.

Treadmills are machines that are fitted with motors and a cushioned walking surface to simulate the act of running. They promote people to metabolise fat, complement weight loss programs and assist muscle building exercises.

There are numerous benefits of treadmills. Firstly you have the privacy of staying within your house. You will never have to struggle with other joggers, subfreezing temperatures or cars along the roadway. And Again, you are not limited to a special time of the day. You can work out at your treadmill in the morning, after-noon or late evening.

Runners on treadmills aren’t subjected to the impact that they feel when they sprint along the jarring road surface. The running platform affords a sponge like result so you do not have soreness.

Treadmills incorporate meters by which one can observe progress. You can tell how many kilometers have been traveled in a given amount of time and how long you have been running for. Some treadmills display how many calories you have burned up.

You should also check out the cushioning of the surface to suit your style. The cushion should be thick enough to withstand the shock of your feet as you step onto the deck. It must also be durable enough so it does not rip over time.

Jogging comes with inherent risks of a fall. Treadmills are far more safe and usually don’t subject the exerciser to the same risk of painful injury or soreness compared with if she had been on the road. You can set the machine to simulate all kinds of terrain. You can tell it to run as if you are climbing an Andes mountain, or along a soft lawn.

You should generally bear in mind numerous factors when purchasing a treadmill. Treadmills range from inexpensive to very expensive so you will have to ensure that the the equipment choice is right for you. Again, treadmills can be expensive to maintain so you will need to take this into consideration to avoid high costs of maintenance.

The DRX9000 Spinal Decompression Device…Beats Back Pain

Wednesday, June 24th, 2009
by Randall Pruitt, DC, DACNB, DAAPM, MUAC, CES-NASM

The average duration of pain for my typical patient is several months to several years. Most have suffered from lower back or neck pain for long periods of time before I see them.

Surgery is the next step for most of the patient that come to see me, in fact the majority of the patients I see have already exhausted several other treatment options.

The number one reason a patient presents to my clinic is to see once and for all if spinal decompression can give them that final option of avoiding a painful and potentially life altering spinal surgery.

The good news is that for most of these patients I can help and have been doing so for over ten years now.

The drx9000 has been a key player in my ability to help these patients with their disc injuries when others have failed.

The latest research supports the use of the drx9000 in regards to the disc being the primary source of pain and the facts behind disc healing.

Lack of a blood supply is one of the main reasons a disc doesn’t heal very well. In normal circumstances, when motion is appropriate a fluid exchange occurs that keeps the disc healthy. However, when motion is altered the disc becomes damaged. The drx9000 creates a vacuum in the disc that draws in fluid and nutrition so the disc can mend.

As the vacuum effect is created it allows the disc to regenerate and creates active fluid exchange so that the disc has the nutrients it needs to heal, forming a scar in the outer layers. This is one of the key reasons that spinal decompression is so effective long term.

The research behind the drx9000 is what makes this particular form of spinal decompression so promising. Doctors from institutions like the Mayo Clinic, Johns Hopkins and Stanford have been involved in the research process.

The reduction in the amount of unnecessary spinal surgeries is a byproduct of the use of the DRX9000 technology. This allows the opportunity for patients to find a real solution and not be dependent on pain management in the future. I have saved thousands of patients from surgery and I am certain thousands more before my career is over.

Define Those Muscles

Define The Bulk in Proportion

When an individual decides that they want to get their body looking great and build some muscle, there always seems to be the temptation to put on size rather than defined muscle.

Whether you are man or woman a strong muscular body looks great, but you don’t have to have great big bulging muscles to achieve it. The best looking bodies are those that have muscle definition not bulk and size.

Now if you are, or looking to be a competing Bodybuilder then fine you have got to get those muscles big to stand a chance of winning any competitions. Although that said I do think that the size of some of these competing Bodybuilders has gone just a little to far, they just don’t look real bodies any more which is a shame as it is a great sport and one I have always enjoyed.

I think the ladies tend to get it right when developing their bodies, they get a pretty even proportion of muscle. it is sometimes different with the guys as they want big so they hit their arms and chest mainly while bulking up their weight.

The result is a big chest and big arms with the rest of the body trailing behind, and unfortunately the body is then out of proportion. How many times have you seen a guy proudly walking along with a tight shirt with a puffed out chest and sleeve stretching arms only to find as you look lower his legs are like sticks in comparison.

Now if you are not a competing Bodybuilder then do we really need all that size. Surely it has got to be better and more comfortable to go for better developed muscle in respect of definition rather than size. Think about what will happen in years to come when your training days are slowed down or come to a stop, what do you think will happen to that big puffed out chest when it isn’t kept rock solid with hard training.

Muscle definition as opposed to size not only looks far better, that’s only according to me as these are my opinions, but also it is not such a big mountain to climb to get your body toned and defined as building huge muscles. Also your clothes will probably still fit you where as if you put several centimetres on your chest or thighs you have probably got to buy lots of new clothes.

If you want the lean ripped body then you don’t need those real heavy weights with low reps, instead you can go for lighter weights and more reps and really burn the fat away from those muscles. But ultimately the choice is yours to go for lean muscle definition or big muscle bulk, either way enjoy your training.
