Will Keeping a Daily Health Diary Help Me Reduce My Bruising?

Monday, June 22nd, 2009
by Carolyn Cooper

Dont you get frustrated when you look down and see one more, dark, splotchy bruise that you dont know where it came from? Whether you are tired of the skin tenderness that these bruises can bring, or you are just sick of answering concerned questions, you need to really think about what you can do to stop them. The problem is that there are a lot of things that can cause us to bruise and pinpointing the exact reason can be more than a little difficult. After all, we’re all busy, and it can be hard to remember things from day to day. This is where a daily health diary can become a great personal resource.

You should start keeping a notebook with you all during the day. The notebook doesn’t have to be overly large, but it should be big enough to keep a fair amount of information in it, while still being sized appropriately to maintain with you as you go to and from work and meals. You should list everything that happens to you during each day that pertains to your body, and this list of things could tend to be fairly long on some days. When you are exploring the puzzle of why you are tending to easy bruising, you notebook can become a source of information that will provide a much better record than your just trying to remember things that occur during any specific day.

Date the page that you are going to start on (or use an inexpensive daily calendar), and as the day progresses, write down anything that happens that affects your body. For instance, you’ll find that the first thing that you should consider is the food that you eat. Be honest, it will be a big help for you in the long run. Make notes about whether you noticed that some of your food was extra greasy, or if you just weren’t interested in it. Did you have any caffeine, or do you think that maybe its time for you to consider cutting back on the stuff entirely? Did you have any alcohol?

Another thing to think about is what was your activity level like. Did you become exhausted, or did you finish the day with the feeling that you were still full of energy and feeling restless? This is a situation that can mean a great deal, so consider the situation carefully. Did you bump into anything that was hurtful, or did you complete a variety of activities that were tiring though rewarding? This is also the time where you record any new bruises with notes of size and location. With the proper recorded information, you’ll be able to note how long the bruise lasts, and you can record the effects of any treatments you are trying to make them disappear faster.

There are numerous benefits that maintaining a daily health diary can provide you. You will really be able to see how your diet and your exercise routine affect your well being, and if don’t give up, you’ll have the beginning of the answer to your bruising problem.

Best Muscle Building Supplements, Do I Need Them?

Monday, June 22nd, 2009
by Ricardo d Argence

Bodybuilding supplements are taken by weight trainers to build muscle mass and reduce fat. They are also taken to improve a person’s performance and make recovery from exercising and training easier.

To make sure that your body gets the nutrition it needs when you are training hard, there are some supplements that you definitely will need. If you don’t have the right supplements, you may not have the energy you need to do everything that is entailed in bodybuilding.

Protein supplements such as creatine and whey protein are necessary to help you with building muscle. You need the basic vitamin and mineral supplements to ensure you do not become deficient in these during training.

Vitamins and minerals basically change the food we eat into energy. Vitamins also help with muscle building and burning fat. Protein supplements that will help you with building muscle along with your training program include creatine, amino acids, testosterone boosters, and whey protein. These proteins are essential for building muscle and help with muscle soreness.

In order to burn off extra fat, fat burners, appetite suppressants, and even some carb blockers are used. Green tea is a natural antioxidant that can help give you a boost in energy that is al natural. Various energy boosters and other supplements are available to help you have all the stamina you need to keep up with the training program you are involved in.

Eating balanced meals that are healthy is very helpful and important. Supplements are not the only way you should be getting the nutrition that you need. Of course even though we eat good foods, we don’t get all the nutrition needed because of cooking the foods and processing them. Supplements can provide the extra nutrients needed.

Of course you can’t build muscle with just vitamins and minerals. You’ll need to work hard and be dedicated to your routine in order to lose fat and start building more muscle. Without a great training program and a healthy diet, just taking supplements are not going to help you to lose fat and build more muscle.

Steroids are a very bad choice for bodybuilding. Although they allow you to build muscles quickly, they also cause a lot of harm. Tendons and ligaments have a hard time keeping up with the fast growing muscles, thus injuries are common among body builders using steroids.

Steroids can also cause people to be more aggressive, it can damage the liver, and even can cause problems with other important bodily functions. There is no pill that will magically help you lose fat and build up muscle without working hard. Products that try to do this are very dangerous to your body.

5. You could even mix the dried fruits into any of your meals, wherever it may be appropriate as fruits go very well in rice and salads.

The Right Food - Better Health

Saturday, June 20th, 2009
by Spencer Gabato

The health value of food that we eat must be of high concern to us. We need foods that are healthy to help us carry out our daily tasks efficiently. Knowing the health value of foods help us to choose which foods are beneficial for our bodies.

Different foods have different health values and within food groups, some have more health value than others. Below, you can find the healthiest food choices. Eating them on a regular basis can bring you good health and hence a happier life.

The no. 1 source of minerals and vitamins are vegetables. Those with darker leaves or skin have higher antioxidant content than others but they all provide us with necessary vitamins and minerals. Kale, asparagus, green beans, celery, spinach and peas are some examples of health giving vegetables. Your body also can benefit from the nutrients that carrots, eggplant squash, mushrooms and yams give.

Darker colored fruits are high in antioxidants just like vegetables are. Notable ones are apples, bananas, oranges, pears, fig, raspberries, plums, lemons, grapes and watermelon. Among the berries, acai berry have the highest antioxidant content and is also packed with nutrients that is why it is classified as a superfood.

What to look for in meat, dairy and fish are those that are low in cholesterol and fat. Choose lamb, lean beef, chicken breast, venison and turkey when you eat meat. Among fishes cod, shrimp, tuna and scallops are the best. Good choices for the dairy group are yogurt, low-fat cheese and eggs.

Eating grains and nuts is also very important. Your body needs the extra protein and carbohydrates found in nuts and grains. Flaxseeds, almonds, peanuts, extra virgin olive oil, sunflower seeds, and pumpkin seeds are good for the health and quite tasty too. You can find grain products in bread, barley, buckwheat, corn, rye, oats and whole wheat. White bread is inferior to whole grain products so you can leave it off from your diet.

Sugar can give negative effects to your body but alas many food contain this substance as to sweeten the flavor. You have an option though to choose foods which are naturally sweetened with honey, maple syrup and molasses. The food will still taste delicious and won’t give harmful effects to your body.

You can make food more flavorful by adding spices. Instead of sweetening food with sugar, try combining it with dill, basil, pepper, peppermint, cilantro, black pepper, oregano, rosemary, thyme and sage.

Water is the best when it comes to hydrating your body. Refrain from soda as it contains sugar and most of them also contain caffeine. If you need a beverage, choose green tea as it is very health promoting and contains a lot of antioxidants to give you healthier and younger looking skin.

Types of Calcium

Saturday, June 20th, 2009
by Alyssa Devan

Calcium is an element that is necessary for stronger bones and teeth. Our bone is the main structure of our body. It can be compared to a car’s chassis. If it is weak then it can result to several problems. Our inability to move is a major setback if our bones are weak. Our teeth also need calcium to be healthy and strong. Lack of calcium in our teeth can result to tooth decays and cavities.

There are different types of calcium. They are not exactly different in their chemical components. It’s just that the other calcium type can have an added component to it making it different than the others. The main calcium structure’s percentage itself is an issue.

Calcium Citrate

The type is acquired by combining calcium with citric acid derived from citrus fruits. Calcium citrate helps in reducing stomach acids to improve calcium absorption. It also helps in enhancing food flavor and in preserving food.

Calcium Lactate

This type is used mainly as antacids and is derived from a combination of calcium carbonate and lactic acid. It can be found in aged cheese and is also used as baking powder. It can also be added to xylitol to regenerate the enamel of the tooth through the remineralization process.

Calcium Carbonate

This type is used as a supplement and can be found in most calcium pills available in the market. It is best taken after meals for better absorption. It is also used as antacid and in the production of toothpaste. But this calcium should be used in the right dosage to prevent harmful effects. An overdose of this calcium may result to hypercalcemia, vomiting and altered mental status.

Calcium Citrate Malate

It is the most absorbable calcium known and is a combination of calcium carbonate, citric acid and malic acid. This type of calcium can help women aged over 50 to address their bone problems. Aging women, and even men, can have bone problems as they grow old. One such problem is osteoporosis that can be prevented or cured by taking calcium supplements.

Calcium Phosphate

It is a main component in the production of fertilizer. However, it can also be used as a nutritional supplement and in some cheese products.

Calcium Gluconate

This is also used as a nutritional supplement for stronger bones, however, it contains little amount of elemental calcium so you have to take more pills to address calcium needs.

Various researches have proven the effectiveness of calcium in making bones and teeth stronger. We get our calcium needs from the food we eat as well as from calcium tablet supplements. For some, the taste of calcium pills may not be tolerable so calcium capsules can be taken instead.

There are different types of calcium with varying components so you need to consult your doctor for the calcium supplement that would suit your calcium needs.

Teach Me The Best Exercise to Lose Belly Fat

Saturday, June 20th, 2009
by Brian Paul

Looking for the best exercise to lose belly fat? Well, how about 3 exercises? Skip the typical ab exercises, like crunches, situps and leg lifts and your metabolism will go through the roof with these exercises that work your entire body, including your abs… thus building rock hard abs & core, but also creating a much better fat-burning workout than a typical ab workout.

If you think you have to do crunches and situps for losing belly fat, then think again. To do this, you will be rotating among 3 very effective exercises in a mini superset format.

The 3 exercises are 1. Renegade Dumbbell Rows 2. Front Squats with Barbell 3. Mountain Climbers on Floor

A good rep scheme to use with this could be 3-4 sets of 8 reps for each exercise, or more sets for less reps, such as 5 sets of 5 reps of each exercise. Instead of counting the number of reps, you can do mountain climbers for say 30 seconds.

Renegade dumbbell rows

Start in a pushup position with the hands on 2 dumbbells. While you row and lift a dumbbell with one arm, stabilize your body with the other arm while you hold the other dumbbell on the floor. Bring the arm back to the starting position with the dumbbell on the floor, then stabilize your body with that arm while you raise the other arm in a rowing motion. You have to use all your abdominals to stabilize your body during the rowing motion. Believe me on this one… believe me you will be working your abs!

Front squats

These are similar to back squats, however with the barbell in front of your body on the front of your shoulders instead of resting on the upper back as in back squats. Cross your arms, point your elbows away from you in front of your body and hold your barbell on the front of your shoulders.

You may not get the form right immediately, but with practice and some help from a trainer, you will get it right. You wil really have to use your abs to stabilize your body during front squats. Your abs will have to work on this too, even it looks like just a leg workout!

Mountain climbers

Start in a pushup position and then shuffling your feet in and out so that your knees are moving in under your chest and then back out to starting position. It is sort of like climbing a mountain while staying on a flat floor. For a more intense version, move your hands back and forth about 8-10 inches while you are doing the leg movements. You will feel this througout your whole body, because they are harder to do than standard mountain climbers.

Take 30 seconds rest between each exercise. After each superset, rest about 1-2 minutes.

Your abs won’t know what happened to them, since you won’t be doing any direct ab workouts. After you try it, I bet you will agree with me!

Losing Weight y Eating More

Saturday, June 20th, 2009
by Mary Mack

You wouldnt think that it would be possible to lose weight while eating more, would you? It goes against just about everything we believe and everything we have been taught.

However, once you can see how our bodies process food, and how this is controlled by our brains, the subject gets a lot easier to grasp.

There are a lot of misunderstandings about how to lose weight effectively, and about how we put it on in the first place, and why it stays on. The well-known diet programs give no information about the root causes of how the body stores and burns fat.

The main enemy for dieters has always been seen as the food we eat, and the solution as how to eat less. But food is not the central issue, and eating less will not solve your problem.

If you did a survey, very few people would believe that it’s possible to change your body in 11 days - by losing 9 pounds of fat. Dieting is regarded as a long, drawn-out affair.

But this can be achieved, and indeed has been achieved by many different people. The system is tried and tested worldwide, with great results.

To simplify it, the system works because of what happens when we eat. There are 2 types of hormones produced - a fat-burning type and a fat-storing type.

And the production of these hormones can be controlled ” more of the fat-burning type can be produced, less of the fat storage type, by consuming certain specific foods.

This is a very clever concept - controlling the hormones through food. Specific foods trigger one or other of the hormone types, and when taken in the correct order, they will go to work for you.

For the system to work, you must eat more than 3 times a day, and eat the correct food using the right pattern. This can be difficult to grasp, but its the critical part of it.

Its a very effective dieting system, and it works faster than most systems that are available now. It works better than any low-carb or low-fat diet, and a lot less stressful.

Lose Weight By Eating More

by Francis Mack

You wouldnt think that it would be possible to lose weight while eating more, would you? It goes against just about everything we believe and everything we have been taught.

Well, its not such a crazy concept and when you understand how the body assimilates food you will have a better understanding of how it works.

A lot of false notions are flying around, about what’s a good way to lose weight, why we put it on in the first place, and why it tends to stay on. Popular diet programs have no concept of the basics of how the body stores (and burns) fat.

The main enemy for dieters has always been seen as the food we eat, and the solution as how to eat less. But food is not the central issue, and eating less will not solve your problem.

How many people would believe that you can change your body in 11 days - losing 9 pounds in the process? Very few - it would be a radical concept to most.

Yet, this has been achieved and documented. The methods used have been tried and tested, and are being used by people around the world.

In its simplest form, the system is built around the fat that when we eat, out brain produces 2 types of hormones. One of these controls the burning of fat and the other, the storing of fat.

And the production of these hormones can be controlled ” more of the fat-burning type can be produced, less of the fat storage type, by consuming certain specific foods.

It’s a very clever system - controlling our fat-processing hormones through food. By eating certain foods (and in the correct order), you can “signal” those fat-burning hormones to work for you.

For it to work correctly, it’s necessary to follow the pattern, and eat more than 3 meals per day. Do this, and you will see results.

It’s without dispute that the system works, and the speed at which it works is one of the most impressive things about it. And it’s a relatively stress-free dieting system.

Hypnosis Ignites Fast Weight Loss

Saturday, June 20th, 2009
by Robert Hudak

Many of us deeply indulge in the monotonous daily routine; often overlook our health and appearance. What makes matters worse is a lot of us cannot discriminate between good food and inappropriate food. The end result, you start gaining weight. This process eliminates your ability for fast weight loss. This behavior is bad for your health and adversely affects your personality.

Many people in general get excited about losing weight so they count their calories or follow a stringent diet plan. On the quest for fast weight loss many of us turn to hazardous diet pills and surgery. Although some may have success, they are still in need of a lifestyle change and must change their old ways of eating.

Although it would be nice to take a pill or have a surgery to end a lifetime of weight, its not that easy. If you are in search of fast weight loss, you should try hypnosis. Hypnosis has been in existence for many years. Hypnosis is an extremely effective tool in helping use their mind and gain control of their bodies.

Just like any major problem, the first step is acknowledging that you have a weight problem. This is necessary step in losing weight. Living in denial about your weight issue is common but until you face it, your weight will not magically lose itself. Programming the subconscious mind using hypnosis and start the life that you have been dreaming of can attain fast weight loss.

If you are looking to attain fast weight loss, hypnosis is the most powerful way to fulfill your goal. Many, especially in the area of weight loss and diet control, underestimate the power of hypnosis. By changing the way you think, your body will respond in a positive way. Remember that in most cases it has very little to do with what you are eating but rather what is eating you.

As you reach a comfortable state in hypnosis, you can be given suggestions to lose your cravings for improper foods such as sugar, and be given suggestion to start drinking more water. Hypnosis is a fun and easy way to be programmed for weight loss, making losing weight something that your body really enjoys.

Given suggestions while in hypnosis can have a lasting effect and there is no limit as to what can be accomplished through ongoing programming. Suggestions that are not reinforced have a tendency to weaken after four days. To prevent this from happening and experience fast weight loss, reinforce a new behavior on a daily basis. This can be achieved by listening to a hypnosis CD everyday.

While in hypnosis, you will experience deep relaxation and thirty minutes of this relaxation will feel like two hours of natural sleep. Think about your mind being programmed for fast weight loss while you are sleeping, then your mind and body can work together to produce the shape and figure that you most desire.

Listening to hypnosis CD’s daily helps achieve the true success with hypnosis. The desire for inappropriate foods can be eliminated by strengthening your old weak habits with ongoing reinforcement. This process will assist you in achieving fast weight loss and will also give you more willpower, discipline and self control.

Eat These Foods And Be Thinner Next Week

Friday, June 19th, 2009
by Meg Norman

There is a lot of money spent on weight loss programs and products. Some people think many diet companies are not that interested in you losing weight and keeping it off long term. Many people see initial results by using various diet programs, but the results are not sustainable because the diet is too extreme.

Most of these programs are designed to help you lose weight fast, which is not healthy and will not be sustainable. Does this mean that there are no foods that help you lose weight quickly while maintaining your health?

You can actually do something simple that will help you lose weight without sacrificing your health or a lot of money. This is by using what is commonly known as a glycemic index. If you want to know how fast something you eat will get into your bloodstream, check the glycemic index. The scale goes from 0 to 100, with water at 0 and refined white sugar at 100. When the glycemic index of a food is high, the faster your blood sugar will rise after you eat it. This can have a devastating effect on your health and your weight.

That’s because your pancreas releases insulin in response to the sugar in your blood. Once the sugary food gets into your system, the call goes out to the pancreas to start making lots of insulin.

Not only can this make you feel sluggish and foggy headed, it can also add fat to your body. How is this possible? Once the insulin has “processed” the sugar, any unused sugar gets packed on your body as fat.

One way to fix this is to eat foods that are under 50 on the glycemic index. You should make these your best friends. When you eat foods lower on the glycemic index, you tend to keep your insulin levels more stable.

This way you will not have a slump in your energy level, and you will not feel so hungry between meals. Not only is this an easy way to lose weight, it is good for your body too.
