Pricing Methods For Laser Hair Removal

Thursday, June 25th, 2009
by Robert Mary

Laser hair removal has become one of the most popular forms of eliminating unwanted hair because of advances in laser technology. This is the reason an increasing number of people are asking about the pricing of laser treatment. But there is no singular answer to their questions; every person’s hair responds differently to treatment, and prices are determined on an individual basis.

The final cost for laser hair removal depends on three main things. The primary driver is the amount of work involved. Different areas of the body have different levels of sensitivity as well as accessibility that make them priced area by area. Then there is the number of sessions required to completely remove the hair in one particular area. And finally it depends on the doctor’s fee for his or her service. When consulting with a doctor to determine whether you are a candidate for laser hair removal, be sure to ask for a quote so you have an idea of what the cost may be as well as how it is determined.

Different clinics will use a variety of pricing methods to come up with the final bill, be sure to make yourself aware of what method is used. Some places charge by the minute and your bill depends on the amount of time is involved. Other places will charge a flat fee for each session for each area of the body. This means any individual wanting work done in the same area should be priced equally. Still, some places will charge per pulse. There are a variety of other methods but these three are the most common.

Another method is to charge by time. Most places will use increments of fifteen minutes to determine the bill with this method. Before you agree to treatments for a clinic employing this pricing practice, your overall cost might end up more expensive if the laser equipment and the technicians are slow and relatively few hairs can be removed in fifteen minutes.

In the flat fee pricing method, the price is determined by the area that is to be treated. Every patient who is to have hair removed from the same area will be billed the same amount regardless of the amount of hair to be removed. It is usually determined for that particular session or series of sessions, whatever is typical for that area and how the area is treated.

Another form of laser hair removal pricing is the fee per pulse method. A pulse is everytime the laser is fired, and pulses ordinarily last less than one second. Each pulse penetrates about a hundred hair follicles, so the more hair to be removed, the more pulses will be required.

In many cases where the per pulse pricing method is used, clinics will charge a minimum number of pulses to begin. This means if your hair removal needs requires fewer pulses than the minimum you will still be charged for that amount. Usually, the practice is quite fair and many patients are happy because they tend to go over the minimum, and anything over the minimum is charged a reasonable rate somewhere to the tune of one dollar per pulse. In repeat sessions when the hair grows back thinner, it is cost effective to go back for more treatment since less hair needs to be removed.

In the end, the final cost depends on the individual. The area of the body from which the hair will be removed, the thickness and amount of hair, and the total number of treatments required will all play a role in determining the final price of laser hair removal.

How to Win the Battle Against Skin Wrinkles

by Lourdes Portela

Getting older than forty is not so big a drama these days. What is really bad about getting older? Getting closer to death, of course; but that is a fact that is inevitable, at least until almighty science finds the secret of immortality.

The other upside down that terrorizes us from getting older is exactly that, getting older. We have the idea that older people is in an advanced state of decomposition. It looks that after forty, our bodies change and they start a fast race towards degradation. We fear that with advanced age, our bodies will stop working as they are supposed to.

But if we look back we can see how much we advanced in the last years. A person in his forties, fifty years ago, looked as a fifty five or even sixty years old these days. The medical advances allow our bodies to keep their health, and the changes in our health habits help as well. We eat less and healthier, we exercise, we have regular medical check ups, and we are a little too much concern about our health and appearance, to the point of almost obsession. Even plastic surgery is acting as an accomplice of this game of cheating age.

One of the things that show our age with more clarity is the appearance of wrinkles. After some years, the different facts of our lives left their prints all over our faces. Smiles, frowns, every facial expression leaves its permanent mark. But they are two different kind of facial wrinkles: the “nice” ones, the ones that show a life full of events and laughs, permanent prints of expressions, and the ones that make us look sad and older. The first ones accent our personality and they can be attractive. The second ones are the kind of wrinkles we hate, and the ones we can fight against.

How can we fight against ugly wrinkles? Fortunately, there are plenty of good commercial beauty products that may help us in our battle against wrinkles. We just must remember to be constant, and clean our faces every day, keeping it hydrated.

We should use specific beauty skin products depending of our age, the weather of the place we live in, and our type of skin. People with dry skin are normally more in danger of having the worst wrinkles. There are some components in the skin beauty products that can help us to reduce wrinkles:

Vitamin A, or retinal: it supposes to increase the collagen production, a substance that reduces fine lines.

Vitamin E, or DL-Alphatocopherol: it helps blocking the UV light that causes skin cancer, and it slows the appearance of wrinkles.

Vitamin C: it stimulates collagen.

Vitamin B3, or Niacin: it protects the skin from toxins, and its use is wonderful for irritable or allergic skins.

Glycolic acid, used as an exfoliant: it cleans the skin, eliminating the toxins that are in its external layers.

Remember to use constantly a sunscreen lotion in every season, so you protect your skin from the weather and the UV light. Drink plenty of water to keep your body and skin hydrated, eat healthy, and abuse of vegetables and fruits. And do something very important as well to look beautiful and to have a younger expression: laugh a lot, because the wrinkles we get by laughing make us look very attractive.

Retinoic Acid - Treatment for Wrinkles

Sunday, June 21st, 2009
by Edward Villablanca

Wrinkles should not necessarily correspond with one’s age. After all, there are about a dozen skin-care products that contain retinoic acid which are available on doctor’s prescription. Retinoic acid is a chemical or substance that is derived from vitamin A. As such, it can eliminate wrinkles as it assists the skin in retaining moisture more efficiently.

However, the effectiveness of each type of skin treatment (creams, liquids, or gels) may vary from person to person. For some people, retinoic acid may work well in making many of their fine wrinkles disappear. But for others, it may have very little or no effect at all.

What causes wrinkles, and why does the skin develop such crease marks as one ages? The medical field explains it this way: As a person ages, so too does his or her skin. And in this inevitable ‘growing old’ process, the skin’s production of oil becomes lesser and lesser, making the epidermis (the outer nonsensitive and nonvascular layer of the skin) harsh and dry. Moreover, less collagen and elastin - proteins in the connective tissue that help in maintaining the skin’s suppleness - are produced by the dermis (the under layer of the skin). These simultaneous biological activities make the skin tenuous and less springy, thus making it more unresistant to wrinkles.

But it makes us wonder at times why someone who’s in the 50’s seems to have far less wrinkles than somebody who’s ten years younger. The reason could be that the older person spends more time indoors than the younger one who chooses an active outdoor life. Being exposed to the sun very often makes skin wrinkling a lot more pronounced. Smoking is another possible cause of early wrinkling of the skin.

How does retinoic acid work in eliminating the fine wrinkles in the skin? This substance is known to hasten the casting off of inert skin cells on the epidermis. Regeneration of skin cells ensues, which results to a more vital and fresh look. The positive results of retinoic acid against wrinkles may be conspicuous only after about several weeks (even a few months to some) of continuous use. The height of its effectiveness may be reached in about half a year and it becomes pure upkeep for you from then on. Also, you have to realize that your wrinkles can reappear once you stop using creams with retinoic acid.

Some people may be wary of using such retinoic-acid treatments, insisting that there are side effects to their use and that wrinkles are a natural part of aging. Their concern may have some basis, especially since some people who tried using retinoic-acid creams for their wrinkles developed skin irritation, redness, and intense itching. People who suffer from eczema should likewise refrain from using products with retinoic acid as this may aggravate their condition.

Wrinkles: Natural and Whole Food Remedies

Sunday, June 21st, 2009
by Larry Miller

The following information has been gathered and compiled through personal experience while traveling, teaching T’ai Chi, Qi Gong, Chinese Herbal medicine, martial arts and other health related subjects. The article also contains feedback from students and anecdotal information from readers of my columns. The following are my opinions and deductions from those sources.

Vitamin A, C and E are antioxidants and combat free radicals. Free radicals contribute to symptoms of aging, including wrinkles. As we age our skin grows thinner and drier contributing to wrinkles. Deep moisturizers, especially if applied while the skin is wet, can add elasticity and body. Heavy creams plug the pores and defeat your efforts.

Rubbing a light bodied hand lotion into the wrinkles three or four times daily can soften skin to the point that eventually the wrinkles may disappear. Plastic surgery is a temporary fix if the underlying causes aren’t addressed and changed. Natural remedies may take longer, but when we take the time to find out how and why they work, we’re more likely to affect a lasting solution.

For skin to be healthy it needs linoleic acid. Linoleic acid is an essential fatty acid; essential means the body can’t manufacture it and it has to be obtained from outside sources. Linoleic acid is found in fish oils and many vegetables.

Purslane (Portulaca Oleracea) contains more Omega 3 EFA’s than any other vegetable source. Purslane, of which there are two main varieties, grows wild in almost every area of the U.S. Other vegetable sources are spinach, mustard greens, walnuts and walnut oil, wheat germ oil, rapeseed oil, (most rapeseed, better known as canola, is GMO contaminated, the same is true with non-organic soy products) butternuts and seaweed.

The highest fish sources are all salmons (with the possible exception of farm-raised salmon), tuna, American eel, anchovy, halibut, herring, Lake trout and sardine. An authors note: I had farm-raised salmon once. I’d dropped my wife off at the airport and on the way home stopped to pick up some food for the 10 days she’d be gone. Farm raised salmon was on sale. I’d never had farm-raised salmon before, or since, but I’d been a successful amateur salmon fisherman when living in Oregon and I like salmon, so I bought a package. The fishy smell was like an uninvited and unwelcome guest; it hung around the house and refused to leave.

The sponge I washed the dish and pan with smelled so bad I threw it out and I had to soak the pan in bleach overnight. A few days later I saw where farm-raised fish contained a high percentage of heavy metals and pollutants. Fool me once, shame on you: fool me twice, shame on me. Even without pollutants, I doubt I’ll try it again.

Using a light touch and a quality hand or face cream, you can do big V’s, little v’s, m’s and I’s to help remove facial wrinkles. The same would probably work on wrinkles anywhere on the body. As an example: put a liberal amount of facial cream on the forehead. In all of the following use the middle finger, ring and little fingers and do 15 to 20 repetitions.

Starting at the top of the nose stroke up and out on a diagonal, ending at the hairline above the temples. Using the same technique do shorter versions starting at the top of the nose and going diagonally up/out about 2″. Starting at the nose and using an M motion go up, out and then down at the top of the cheek bone/temples. I’s are straight up from the eyebrows to the hairline across the forehead. I had a wrinkle in my brow between my eyes. Using the techniques above and rubbing hand lotion into it on a daily basis, it was gone in a month.

What is the Best Way to Reduce Face Wrinkles?

Sunday, June 21st, 2009
by Sean Saunders

It may not seem like it, but the best way to reduce face wrinkles is in fact with an anti wrinkle cream. Yes, there are other ways to get rid of wrinkles, such as botox or a face lift but who really has the patience or cash to opt for such a ridiculous and unneeded treatment. Having said that, there is only one reliable and cost effective option to reduce face wrinkles anti wrinkle skin cream.

What type of anti wrinkle cream should I use?

This is an important question, as not all wrinkle creams are created equal. Some creams are made specifically for people with oily skin, while others are designed for people with dry skin. In addition to that, there are also creams made to support people with fair skin as well as creams for darker skinned individuals. With all of these creams and different factors to consider, how can anyone be sure of which anti wrinkle cream to use? Well, it’s simple really by knowing your skin type.

You don’t have to know the specifics of every wrinkle cream on the market you just have to know your skin type. By knowing your skin type, you’ll have a good idea of what to look for in an anti wrinkle skin cream. Rather than trying to guess, you’ll know precisely which elements are important and which ones aren’t so important.

How much should I pay for a wrinkle cream?

If you’re looking to reduce face wrinkles through the use of a wrinkle free cream, you won’t likely have to break the bank. It’s true that wrinkle cream can get expensive some cost $180 or more but most creams fall into the $29 to $89 range. And when you consider that one jar can last upwards of 1-2 months, you’re looking at significant savings when compared to cosmetic surgery; which must be done on a yearly or bi-yearly basis to maintain results.

Important Note: Don’t forsake an anti wrinkle skin cream just because it has a slightly higher price tag. If you put too much emphasis on cost, it may be awhile before you find that perfect wrinkle cream for you.

A good rule of thumb when it comes to using wrinkle remover cream is to use the cream for about 1-2 months. If within that time no noticeable reduction can be seen, then you should move onto a different cream in order to reduce face wrinkles.

by Jessica Oniell

An eye makeup that is stylishly applied can help you be the talk of the party. It increases your confidence in those situations where you have to talk to people face to face, it also makes you feel better about yourself, due to the fact that you know your eyes have a better appearance. Communication can fail at times due to a lot of people, particularly males, have a hard time focusing on dry and pale eyes, so it is important that you select the correct look in eye makeup.

How to Pick a Style

When picking out what color to select to go on your eyes, there are a few factors to consider. The color needs to compliment the color of your dress or outfit (even to the same shade if possible), go with your skin tone, or a particular mood your are trying to show for the event or day. You need at least 3 shades of color to work with in the eye shadow. Select the darker shade within the color of shadow first. Then select the color that will be your base color next. This shade should be lighter than the darker shade basically a medium hue of the color. This the last color you select should be lighter, and is used as a highlight your eye area and the other shades of shadow, It could be a real light shade of the other colors you have selected or even a pale type shimmer.

Select Your Eye Makeup Style

Most females know how to apply their eye makeup good. Many times you can tell how a woman feels just by noticing how their makeup is applied. Through eye makeup there are many looks that can be attained, so you need to experiment with it and learn how to get the various looks you can achieve when you use eye makeup.

1- Eyes done in a natural look will give you an everyday style, and will not be pale. Use the the tones of eye shadows that are pale, you can even find ones in skin tones, this will highlight your eyes wonderfully, without giving you that heavy made up look. But stay away from applying the shimmer shades as this will negate the natural look you are going for.

2 - Eyes made up in a dramatic look could also be called the smoky look. This one is great for going to parties, this would not be right to wear to your place of employment, running the kids around, or shopping. It is a fun look with going out with your friends. You highlight your brow bone while darkening your eye lids with this style of eye makeup. You can highlight with colors of metallic shades or a pale whitish shade.

3 - Eyes done in the sexy look makes women feel sexy as well as looking that way. The sexy look in eye makeup isn’t using just bright tones of shadow. It is trying to make your eyes to look like the shape of almonds. Think of Cleopatra’s eyes in the movie about her. Her eyes were done in the sexy look the right way.

Women have always tried to make their eyes look alluring. When communicating with people your eyes are a powerful tool to connect with them visually. You can achieve a great look as long as you can get your eye makeup right, so make sure to select what look works for you.

Do You Try Every New Wrinkle Cream?

Friday, June 19th, 2009
by Sean Saunders

Are you trying every new wrinkle cream that hits the market? Yes? Well unfortunately, that’s not a good thing. Although it’s good that you’re out there trying to find a product that works for you, it’s bad that your wasting all your time & money on “newborn” wrinkle creams.

Why is buying newly developed wrinkle cream “bad”? First off, because you don’t even know if it works for the wrinkle community at large.

Cosmetic products are released all the time and many of them end up being completely useless meaning it’s no different for anti-wrinkle creams.

If you buy every single “new wrinkle cream” that comes out, you’re playing right into the hands of the cosmetic companies and throwing your money away needlessly. Having said that, be smart and wait it out.

Let the rich guys & gals spend their money on the cream and waste their time testing it. Within a few weeks, you’ll have plenty of reviews covering the reliability of the cream and whether or not it’s destined for the trash or for glory. So as you can see, by waiting, you’ll get the information you need without spending a small fortune on every new product that gets released.

Secondly, and most importantly, if you move on to a new cream every time one releases, you won’t ever achieve the wrinkle removal you so desperately crave. Think of anti-wrinkle cream as an investment the more time you put in, the better the results are coming out. That being said, if you keep stripping away your investment with a wrinkle reducing cream, you have to start all over with the new one. So in layman’s terms, you’re resetting the clock every time you begin using a new wrinkle cream.

In conclusion, if you’re using an anti-wrinkle cream and are achieving satisfying results with it, don’t be in a big rush to try something new. If a new wrinkle cream is as “super” as it is said to be, it won’t be going anyway for quite some time.

In light of that fact, don’t get sucked into the hype of every new product that hits the market otherwise, you’ll soon be drowning in a sea of wrinkle removing cream.

Learning How to Apply Makeup

Friday, June 19th, 2009
by Makeup Girl

What makeup colors and techniques work varies from person to person. What works for one person, might not work for someone else for a lot of different reasons. Even though people might be better off using different colors and brands of makeup, there are a few simple tips that can benefit everyone who uses makeup.

First of all, you will want to consider how and what you are applying your makeup with. Makeup brushes are great for applying most types of cosmetics. Using the right brush for the right chore is the key to creating the look you want. You don’t want to use a blush brush to try to apply your eye shadow. The brushes are designed to help shades go on evenly and smoothly without damaging the skin. Investing in the right brushes will make your daily regimen much more pleasant.

Many people will use their index finger to apply their eye creams, lip colors, etc. This is a big mistake. Your index finger is usually stronger than your ring finger or pinky finger. This means, that it can be more harsh and damaging to the delicate skin on your face. Harsh or rough application of your makeup can cause wrinkles and skin irritation. This will cause your skin to age before its time with wrinkles and other blemishes. Really, the best thing you can do is to be gentle in your application by using your ring finger or pinky to apply for makeup when necessary. It might seem a little awkward at first, but years from now, you will be glad you got in the habit.

Another general tip that applies to almost everyone is to think about your audience when applying your makeup. Your audience can be your co-workers, your friends, or even a date. You want to be sure the look is appropriate for the occasion.

For a simple day time look, consider using a light shimmer on the eyes and a light gloss to make your lips stand out. If you want, use a little bit of a bronzer to give your skin that sun-kissed look. On occasion, there might be something going on during the day that calls for a little bit more makeup. Just remembering that you don’t want your makeup to be distracting, you want it to be inviting.

Evening occasions such as dining out or going to a club, might call for a little bit more dramatic look. The lighting is often dim and you are usually wearing something a little fancier. You don’t want your face to be outdone by your outfit.

The sky is the limit when it comes to types of makeup and colors. You can determine the shades, tones, and looks that you like best. But if you remember these basic tips, you’ll soon find yourself being the person others ask about makeup.

The Basics On Mineral Makeup

Friday, June 19th, 2009
by Vivian McNeill

You have probably heard a lot lately about the new trend in cosmetics–mineral makeup. But many do not know what it is exactly nor the many benefits of utilizing it. Mineral cosmetics has actually been a product for a long time, but has been virtually kept out of the publics view for several decades. Now that the secret is out, here is what you need to be knowledgable on about the subject and why you should consider purchasing it.

Mineral makeup is a mixture of lightly crushed, all-natural minerals directly from the ground. There are no preservatives, dyes, or chemicals employed in the products or throughout the developement procedure. When subtracting these factors from the product, it is less probable to be irksome to the skin. In most cases, fragrances, dyes, and preservatives cause breakouts, dryness, and/or allergic reactions in the customer. With an all-natural product there is no reason for distress.

The main ingredients making up mineral makeup are zinc oxide, mica, and titanium dioxide. Zinc oxide and titanium dioxide are anti-inflammatory and typically relieve irritated skin. This can have a positive affect on individuals who suffer from severe acne or rosacea. Not only will the makeup cover up ones blemishes, but it may actually help to heal them too!

Mineral cosmetics provide you with a specific level of safety against the sun. Zinc oxide and titanium dioxide are also utilized in sunscreens. It is safest though to not rely solely on your makeup for complete defense from the sun.

Perhaps the most trendy types of mineral cosmetics are the loose foundation and finishing powders. These light powders go on very softly without the cakiness of many conventional kinds of makeup. You do not have to worry about mineral makeup backing your pores, which can lead to additional acne issues. The mineral makeup powder is best applied with a wide, loose brush.

It is essential to understand that not everything that is labeled all-natural really is. Take individual care to look at the ingredients label on any mineral makeup that you buy. Some maintain to utilize only all-natural minerals, but then add some man-made materials to the mix.

Be cautious of an ingredient called bismuth oxychloride. Many products state that this ingredient is normal, but it is really a derivative and can end up causing severe skin irritation in users. Bismuth oxychloride can heighten pores, making them appear larger as opposed to hiding them. It is also to blame for that exaggeratedly shiny look that big name mineral makeups can produce. For these reasons, you ought to by no means pay for a mineral makeup product with bismuth oxychloride as an ingredient.

Many people do not comprehend that what comes in contact with our skin can have a direct influence on our wellbeing. Chemicals can absorb into your skin and in fact go in your blood stream! As a consequence, selecting the correct makeup can be a very critical choice. Is mineral makeup best for you?

Iced Anti Wrinkle Cream

Thursday, June 18th, 2009
by Sean Saunders

If you’ve finally reached the age in which you are becoming worried about accumulating wrinkles and fine lines, then you have probably heard of some of the wrinkle treatments that are out there. You probably know that many of those wrinkle treatments are ineffective and quite expensive. Having said that, if you’re on a budget, like most families are these days, it’s not a real stretch to say that you don’t have hundreds of dollars to spend on different kinds of wrinkle treatments every month, right? If that is indeed the case, then you’re really not left with a wide variety of options when it comes to treating wrinkles. Luckily for you though, you don’t have to be rich to get rid of wrinkles you just need some iced anti wrinkle cream.

What is “iced anti wrinkle cream”? Well, it’s pretty much like most other wrinkle creams except for the fact that it’s typically more powerful & much more effective. In fact, many wrinkle sufferers suggest that this is the best wrinkle treatment by far. Do their opinions & results mean that this treatment will work for everyone whom uses it? No, not necessarily; but it does have a significantly higher chance of producing longer lasting results. Why is that? Simply due to the fact that the ingredients found in iced anti wrinkle cream are more potent and more concentrated; this means larger, more potent “doses” in every tube of cream that you use.

Every container of anti-wrinkle cream contains wrinkle fighting ingredients namely Palmitoyl, Palmitoyl Oligopeptide, and Pentapetide 3, as well as many others that are on the forefront when it comes to keeping skin looking healthy and beautiful. Without the presence of these ingredients, the wrinkle cream would be virtually useless for the user. As a matter of fact, you couldn’t even call it a wrinkle cream if those power ingredients were missing, as it would literally be nothing more than a basic skin moisturizer.

Having said all that, make sure you know a little bit about the common ingredients found in wrinkle creams before going out & spending hundreds of dollars on high-end, brand name products that may end up being completely useless.

Another thing to remember when researching and/or buying wrinkle cream is to NOT expect miracles. No wrinkle cream will magically erase all of your wrinkles in a matter of seconds; not even an iced anti wrinkle cream. That being said, you have to be realistic with all of your wrinkle treatment goals. You have to realize that your wrinkles won’t simply vanish overnight it’s going to take some time.

However, as long as you remain patient when using your chosen wrinkle cream, you will ultimately end up with fewer wrinkles and much younger looking skin.
